Student exchange

The Oslo National Academy of the Arts (= Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo, KHiO) cultivates an extensive international collaboration network at many levels and across several continents.

KHiO’s participation in international programmes makes it possible for KHiO staff and students to carry out productive research and studies outside the Norwegian border.

Many staff members come from abroad, some to join the permanent staff, others to work for shorter periods.

KHiO also has several foreign students every semester, around 20 – 30, coming for exchange studies and also to complete full study programmes through external scholarships.

KHiO actively participates in several Nordic networks partly financed via Nordplus educational programme, organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers, and including teacher and student exchange as well as other cooperation activities.

KUNO - a cooperative network of 14 fine arts academies in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

CIRRUS - a cooperative network of 20 design academies in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

KHiO is also active within Erasmus, the EU programme Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP). Over the years KHiO has made bilateral agreements with around 50 higher education institutions in Europe through Erasmus.

In addition, KHiO has also entered into bilateral collaboration agreements with art  education institutions in countries outside Europe, f. ex. in Asia, Africa and Australia.
